Asociación Pozos Agua Viva (ASOCAVIVA) is an organization rooted in faith and Christian principles.
Our mission is to provide safe drinking water to remote areas in Guatemala while sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Schedule

This is what a typical workweek looks like. However, no trip is the same, and the schedule may change. 

Saturday

  • Arrive at Guatemala City airport.
  • It’s about an hour drive to Antigua, where you’ll stay before heading to the community.

Sunday

  • Enjoy breakfast with the team, followed by a church service at a local church.
  • Head out to a hotel near the community.

Monday

  • Arrive at the community and get a warm welcome from the local leaders.
  • Conduct a survey of the community to assess needs and gather information.
  • Go through an orientation on work safety and drilling procedures.
  • Get started with rig installation and preparing the site.
  • Teach health and hygiene lessons to the community, covering topics like:
    • Germs and how they spread
    • Proper hand-washing techniques
    • Worms and parasites
    • Oral rehydration solution
    • Nutrition
    • Oral hygiene
  • Share Bible stories and parables to inspire, encourage, and connect with both children and adults. 

Tuesday

  • Ream the hole to 7 inches wide.
  • Install the casing.
  • Flush the well with chlorination and add a sanitary seal.
  • Add the gravel pack to complete the well.
  • Continue health and hygiene lessons, along with Bible stories and parables for children and adults.

Wednesday

  • Develop the well to ensure proper functionality.
  • Pour the concrete slab around the well.
  • Continue health and hygiene lessons, along with Bible stories and parables for children and adults.

Thursday

  • Install the pump to make the well fully operational.
  • Hold a well dedication ceremony to celebrate with the community.
  • Distribute Bibles as a lasting gift of faith and encouragement.

Friday

  • Spend the day touring the beautiful city of Antigua.
  • Options might include visiting a coffee plantation, shopping at the local markets, exploring Hobbitenango, hiking a volcano, or enjoying a hike to the iconic cross outlook for breathtaking views
  • Prepare to return home
